Roach Dynamos have been playing football on the same pitches in Heywood for over 40 years. Until this year, the site has never had a dedicated changing room and meeting space for their teams.
With age ranges from Under 6 to open age and veteran teams, Roach Dynamos is a fantastic example of sport providing a focal point for the local community.
The new facilities have been built from the ground up. Where previously there were not even electricity or gas connections, now there is a state-of-the-art facility with full kitchens, showers, separate home and away changing rooms plus changing facilities for match officials, alongside a large room where families and supporters can shelter from the worst of Heywood’s weather.
The facility can also be used on non-match days for local meetings and groups, making this new building even more valuable for the community.
With funding provided by the FA and the local authority, this is a real success story for cooperation at a local level.
